A very attractive Victorian papier mache painted stationary box, c.1870.
The box boasts finely painted flowers and leaves with gilt detailing throughout. The box is laquered with a gold tint finish giving the whole piece a lovely glow. The lid opens to reveal a neatly lined interior. The base is lined with the original green baize. The lid has a replacement hinge and the interior lacks divides but this does not detract from the visual appeal of the piece.
