An extremely striking and substantial Art Nouveau period mahogany armchair with fine needlework upholstery, c.1890.
The chair boasts an intricate pierced fan back splat with lyre arm supports, pad feet to the fore and cabriole legs to the rear. The needlework upholstery depicts a foliate design with intricate flowers and leaves.
The chair has some wear commensurate with age, most notable to back and rear legs and a small area of discolouration to the right arm. There are some small pin marks to the front where previous upholstery has been removed.
A striking art nouveau design, this piece definitely draws the eye.
