A silver mounted clear glass match striker of tyg form, hallmarked for London, 1894. The maker's mark is rubbed with only the latter letter remaining visible - an 'M' within a circle.
There is a small section of damage to one handle which presumably has happened subsequent to an historic drop on to a soft surface, as the damage appears to be internal to the glass handle, with the outside glass around the crack remaining smooth.
A lovely example of an exceedingly rare piece of Victoriana.
