A charming sterling silver miniature volume of 'The Imitation Of Christ' by Thomas A. Kempis, 1906, complete on its original lectern by the famous miniature bookmakers, David Bryce & Sons. The history of ecclesiastical book chaining is still clearly visible to the base.
The sterling silver front board is stamped for William Comyns & Son, 1904. The spine is leather with the book title stamped in gilt. The back board is soft leather and shows wear to the top where the chain hook has been historically attached and detached. The spine has detached from the binding, as have the front bard and title page. The binding itself is loose. All page edges gilt. Neat inscription to the front endpaper dated '1919'. The pages throughout are clean and bright.
