A charming vernacular Scottish staved treen wall mounted salt box, c.1860-80.
The box is of demi-lune form with a lid hinged by carved grooves above two tacks. The shaped finial has a central hole for hanging.
The box has wear commensurate with age but remains in a very good attractive condition overall.
