A Regency period mahogany metamorphic campaign desk / dining / dressing table in original condition. Illegible maker's stamp just visible through an opening in the central carcass (please see photographs).
The drop leaf table can have a single leaf opened for use as a desk, both leaves opened for use as a dining table, or the top lifted for use as a washstand and dressing table. The washstand is revealed by pressing a brass button to the underside of a table leaf. The click and release mechanism functions perfectly.
When in the washstand position, a mirror can be lifted from the back. The original hinge is present but broken which prevents the mirror from automatically standing on its own when lifted - it currently has to be rested upon the attachment manually. The washstand has recesses for various dressing pots, wash bowl and jug. A small cupboard is revealed to the rear when the knob is twisted, revealing a double compartment.
The desk is in an original condition and as such, it has some scuffs to the extremities, light marks to the top in areas and a small split to the wood to the right leaf near the front hinge.
The table remains strong and stable and has a great colour throughout.
