A truly outstanding George II 18th century walnut wingback armchair, c.1750.
The chair is of stunning form with a square back, out-scrolled arms and cushion, the whole raised above walnut legs, with the two fore being of cabriole form and boasting stunning acanthus carvings to the knee.
The armchair has been expertly re-upholstered in a tapestry fabric with a foliate design of greens and pinks upon a biscuit background, with the sides, back and piping upholstered in a dark green velvet.
The armchair is steeped in history with remnants of extremely high quality tapestry and silk upholstery from the past 270 years still present beneath. This has been preserved beneath a protective fire retardant material. The chair frame is solid and in an untouched condition.
An exceptional chair.
