A late 18th/early19th century oval English School oil on canvas portrait of a young girl with braided hair holding a flower.
The work depicts a well executed subject which draws the eye. The canvas itself has good tension. The paint layers have a network of age cracks which are stable and flat, with areas of retouching across the surface. The varnish is clear although a little matte.
The work is of large proportions at nearly a metre tall and housed in a substantial period gilt frame, which has some wear commensurate with age but remains in a good condition overall.
A well executed and attractive work.
