A wonderful example of a 19th Century writing slope. Rosewood inlaid with Mother of Pearl detail. The writing slope boasts its original key and a working lock. 

The inner boards folds out to reveal blue velvet lining. The brass lock to keep the board in place once opened functions perfectly. The pen rest can be removed to reveal a small secret compartment beneath. 

There is a small amount of wear to the front right corner (please see photographs). Otherwise, the slope remains in an excellent condition.
