A 19th century oil on canvas of very large proportions, depicting a grandmother and child in a woodland with a distant landscape and gathered sticks to the foreground. Monogrammed 'RA' to the lower right.
The work has a beautifully executed and intriguing subject, with a wonderful use of light throughout. There is light craquelure in areas but generally the work remains in a very good condition.
The frame is substantial and shows some wear commensurate with age but remains attractive.
Provenance: 18th century manor house, Co. Carlow, Ireland.
Dimensions (framed):
Height: 112.5cm
Width: 96cm
