A stunning still life watercolour by the renowned French fine artist Isidore Rosenstock (1880 - 1956) depicting roses in a Chinese jar with fallen flower heads and petals on a reflective surface, circa. 1920.
Rosenstock was considered to be one of the best French watercolourists of his time; the detail, proportion and use of light in this work could not be a better example of why he was, and continues to be, held in such high esteem.
The work is signed to the lower right and housed within a gilt frame with a plaque reading 'Rosenstock' to the base. The frame has some minor losses commensurate with age but remains attractive. Two black gallery stamps verso reading 'Tableaux Modernes Leon Gerard Expert 18 Rue Drouot 18, Paris'.
Provenance: Flaxley Abbey, Gloucestershire.
