A fine George III period mahogany and parquetry tea caddy.
This triple-compartment tea caddy is of superb form with a crenelated, or 'double-domed', lid boasting intricate chequered parquetry to each chamfered edge. Diamond designs face each panel to the top and sides, with intricate striped banding framing each panel. Brass loop to the top. The key sits a little loose but nonetheless the lock opens and closes as it should. Green baize lining to the base.
A fantastic example.
