A stunning 18th Century George II, estate made, country oak chest of drawers, c.1740.

Provenance: Monk's Hall Estate, Norfolk - a 15th century Grade II listed Manor House.

The chest is extremely substantial being formed of solid oak throughout. The two plank top and moulded dentil cornice sits above four drawers of varying sizes (the largest being third down), all of which have historically replaced brass droplet handles. To the rear, there is evidence of a small historic tin repair and a small gap to the lower right back board (please see photographs). Note the chest leans back slightly due to historic wear to the rear stile legs. Generally the piece remains in a very good condition overall with minor wear commensurate with age.

The chest is of outstanding colour throughout with a wonderful patina. An unusual and attractive one-of-a-kind piece.
