A highly unusual early Victorian gothic revival rosewood and mahogany side table.
The table, historically adapted from a work box, has one large drawer to the front with a brass keyhole, and a dummy drawer to the back, enabling the piece to function as a centre table. The whole is raised upon four finely carved paw feet, each of which is raised upon a brass castor.
The table shows signs of wear and restorations, most notably evidence of historic woodworm throughout (predominantly to the interior of the drawer front) and warping to the top with a historic split to the wood evident near the centre.
The table is extremely striking and of very good proportions being perfect for use as a hall, centre, lamp or bedside table.
