A charming Charles I period oak Wainscot chair.
The chair is substantial and boasts a finely carved lozenge design with scrolled earpieces typical of Yorkshire dale pieces of the time.
The chair has a stunning age-worn patina throughout and the oak is full of character, particularly to the back. The seat is a later replacement but has worn in well with the rest of the piece. There are a few minor historic repairs as expected in a piece of this age. The evident repairs are honest but sympathetic (please see photographs).
A good solid example.
