An extraordinary large 19th century bowl depicting the characters of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' by Meinhold Brothers, Schweinsburg, Germany. The press mark to the base dates the piece between 1889 and 1905.
The bowl is of flat square form with wide relief corners, each revealing an intricate face, namely Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.
There are few small scuffs and one small chip to the glaze (please see photographs) but generally the bowl remains in an excellent condition. A great table centre piece, and a definite talking point!
