Octavo. All boards are uniformly bound in a fine tree calf leather gilt stamped foliate borders to the boards. The spines have five bands, intricate gilt stamped decoration, a maroon leather gilt stamped title panel and a dark brown leather gilt stamped volume panel. Page edges marbled. Some volumes show some rubbing to the extremities in areas, most notably Vol I of Hallam's Literature Of Europe and Vol I of Hallam's Europe In The Middle Ages. Generally all volumes remain in a very good condition overall.
Marbled endpapers to each volume. Bookplate reading 'Drayton Manor - Sir Robert Peel Bar't' to the front pastedown of Hallam's Literature of Europe only. The front flyleaf of Hallam's Europe In The Middle Ages has a small pencil inscription citing the complete set. All pages are clean and bright.
