'The Lives Of The Most Eminent English Poets With Critical Observations On Their Works' by Samuel Johnson, published London, 1801. Complete in three volumes.
All volumes are fully bound in brown leather with blind stamped decoration to the boards, five raised bands and gilt stamped decoration to the spine. All volumes show signs of shelf wear to the extremities.
Marbled endpapers. Bookplate of 'John Monins' to the front pastdown - likely John Monins of Canterbury, whose son (also John Monins) was Reverend in Glenham, Suffolk - a village near to where this set was acquired. Some spotting to the preliminary pages, otherwise the pages are clean and bright.
