A superb early 19th century rosewood and brass inlaid writing slope / table desk of monumental proportions at over half a metre wide.

The exterior boasts exceptional graining with continuity ensured at every join. The brass inlay has hints of Anglo-Indian influence with swirls and circles to each corner of the box. Brass escutcheon and brass campaign handles. Key absent.

The lid has two small brass holes in which a book stand can be placed. The original bookstand remains present and fits perfectly as it should. Hidden drawer to the left side pops and returns when released without issue. The continuity of brass inlay to the side drawer area is of particular note.

The lid opens to reveal a large green leather writing slope with inner compartments to both sides and recesses for pens and inkwells.

There is a small chip to the lower left corner, otherwise the box remains in a very good condition throughout.

A stunning writing slope of unusual proportions and design.
