A stunning Victorian burr walnut veneered vanity / dressing box.
The burr walnut exterior is inset with mother of pearl to the top and escutcheon and has a working lock and key. The box has a shallow drawer to the front which is opened by pressing a button to the interior - the mechanism still operates very smoothly. The box opens to reveal a plush lined interior with a concealed button just beneath the lock plate which releases the lined lid interior, revealing a mirror to the reverse and stationary folder.
The interior is fitted with seven silver plated cut glass jars, two large rectangular cut glass dressing pots, two cut glass cent bottles and a variety of tools for manicure and sewing al with mother of pearl handles. The front section of the interior lifts out via lifting brass hoop handles to reveal a further storage compartment beneath.
There is a small chip to the veneer on one side and there is a small area of loss to the lining where the concealed button has been pressed over the years (please see photographs). The piece is generally in a very good attractive condition overall.
