A very rare early example of Carl Zeiss Jena Teleater gold plated and lizard leather binoculars, together with an original custom fit crocodile leather case. The serial number is '141683', dating the piece to 1912 - the first year of Carl Zeiss Jena Teleater manufacture.
The binoculars show some wear to the gold plate around the eye pieces but otherwise remain in an excellent condition, fully functional and very attractive.
The case is custom and original, bound in tan crocodile leather with a hollowed out base in which the lenses sit with a central support to keep the binoculars in place. The case also remains in an excellent condition with all hinges and clasps functioning as they should. The back of the case boasts a small pocket, fully lined in keeping with the main interior.
A rare, early and complete example of an iconic piece by a renowned maker in excellent condition.
