A fine mid-19th century rosewood and mother of pearl writing box with an ox blood leather and gilt interior.
The wood to the box shows some some light scuffing and very slight splitting to the wood in places. The interior is in an excellent condition and appears to have an undergone a refurbishment. The writing box does have a key which operates the lock as it should, however rather oddly the lock receiver has not been changed to match the lock mechanism thus the writing box cannot lock, despite having a perfectly functioning mechanism.
The writing slope remains very attractive inside and out.
