An absolutely charming late 18th century elm coffer with chip carved decoration to each side, brass escutcheon and iron hinges.
The coffer is formed of unusually slim planks, giving a larger interior compartment and is of wonderful smaller proportions making it the perfect option for practical storage in a limited space, or for use as a coffee or side table. The wood has a great colour and grain throughout.
The lid section of the lock is a little loose and has to be notched into the correct place to close the lid and there is evidence of historic woodworm to the back boards. Please note the whole piece has been fully treated in abundance of caution.
A really charming piece; full of character.
