A large and substantial sterling silver six-slice toast rack, fully hallmarked for John Evans II, London, 1848.
The toast rack boasts an ornate skirt which bears foliate detail with an eagle crest central to each side. The handle is in the form of intertwining vines and buds.
The toast rack is very substantial at 11.9 troy ounces (370 grams) and is of large proportions, making it a real showpiece whether on the table or on display.
There is evidence of a very small historic repair to one of the toast bars where it meets the body of the rack (please see photographs), otherwise the toast rack is in an excellent condition throughout.
