An early 19th century English School oil on canvas portrait of a young girl, housed in an attractive and substantial giltwood oval frame.
This work was likely originally part of a larger work; the child is holding what seem to be reins and a whip indicating she was originally sat upon a horse. There is some craquelure throughout the painting and a small pierce to the canvas which has caused some minor paint loss.
The frame has wear commensurate with age but remains in a very good condition overall.
A very characterful work.
