A large 18th century oil on canvas in the manner of Pieter Jansz Quast (1605-1647) depicting a tavern scene in which patrons are fighting over a card game.
The work is exceptionally well painted, evidenced in the way in which light falls from the window into the scene and the delicate and proportionate detail of each patron throughout.
The work has a high gloss varnish finish with some crazing commensurate with age. The work is housed in a later gilt frame.
