A fine George III oil on ivory miniature portrait of a gentleman with white hair, ruff and jacket, housed within a gilt metal and bevelled glass hinged case, c.1780-90.
The work is of a high quality with exceptional detail to the hair and eyes in particular. There is a small amount of wear to the portrait, namely to the mouth. The ivory remains in an excellent condition throughout. The work sits on a piece of parchment within a bevelled glass gilt metal case. There are some light scratches to the glass surface (please see photographs).
A stunning piece.
