An exceptional Victorian diorama of a house of large proportions. The house is formed from cloth and beadwork. The garden is formed from fauna and shells.
The diorama is three dimensional and of excellent proportions. Incredible attention to detail is evident throughout; the windows have a remarkable appearance of glass, the back door is ajar and each attic window is framed with beadwork. The piece even boasts chimneys. The roof of the house displays sentiments of love, thus it is likely the piece was intended as a form of love token.
The diorama is in an excellent, wholly original condition with only slight discolouration to the rear of the house and some lifting to the base at the rear.
The diorama is cased in its original gilt wood glass dome, which is also in an excellent condition.
A rare and truly exceptional example of Victorian craft art.
