A very attractive early 20th century Sheraton Revival inlaid mahogany tub chair.
The crest is inlaid with floral and vine marquetry with the splat boasting a symmetrical segment design. Each arm is supported by fifteen bentwood inset supports. The inlaid tapered legs sit above four original brass castors.
There are signs of wear throughout to the wood, most notably to the back (please see photographs), but the chair nonetheless remains attractive with wonderful form and clean upholstery. The seat has been refilled in recent history and is well cushioned and comfortable.
Provenance: Flaxley Abbey, Gloucestershire.
