An early 19th century oil on board depicting a fracus outside a chapel. The work has the panel supplier label verso for R. Davy of 83 Newman Street London, the format of which was in use by R. Davy c.1822-1830.
The work depicts a bride and groom before a chapel with smiles on their faces, a man shaking a top hat clasping a figure by the scruff of his shirt with bemused onlookers and playing children. The whole is housed in a substantial period carved giltwood frame which has some losses but remains attractive and displays well.
