An outstanding cast iron Egyptian Revival sphinx boot scraper by Archibald Kenrick & Sons, c.1820.
The boot scraper is of large proportions with the substantial grate flanked by two sphinx raised on plinths with a recess within the plinth of each for a boot brush. The whole is surrounded by a foliate border. 'A. Kenrick & Sons' can be clearly seen to the underside.
An extremely attractive and scarce piece.
