A wonderful french brass display case / jewellery box, c.1878.
The lid of the box depicts Palais Du Trocadero, Paris at the Exposition Universelle, 1878. The depiction boasts inlaid mother of pearl throughout the palace and water fountains and is set under thick bevelled glass. This box was likely a souvenir from the event.
Thick bevelled glass forms the case and all panels remains in a very good condition excepting the front panel which has suffered a chip to the top right corner (please see photographs).
The lid lifts to reveal the original light green material padded display base and inner lid. The interior shows some marking commensurate with age, but remains in a good condition overall. The hinges operate with ease.
