A striking painted plaster lion after the Edward Kemeys (1843-1907) lions placed at the entrance to the Art Institute Of Chicago in 1893. The lion is signed '80 Alva' for Alva Studios, New York, 1980.

The piece is extremely handsome and of great proportions. There are signs of wear to the extremities but generally the piece remains in a very good condition.

A great decorative piece.
