A very attractive 19th century mahogany sprung rocking chair.
The rocking chair boasts overstuffed back and arms in its original light grey material, with a serpentine seat. The chair sits on a scroll base fronted by turned horizontal supports. The original two castors remain to the front of the chair enabling easy repositioning.
The upholstery has some discolouration due to the age of the glue in places (please see photographs), but overall the upholstery is clean and in a remarkably good condition.
The rocking chair remains in its original condition. As such, the wood has some lovely pagination to the arms and base from over one hundred years of use. There is some scuffing to the wood in places consistent with age. The back of the seat has a build up of what appears to be plaster or varnish, presumably from being rocked against a wall previously. The springs function perfectly meaning the chair still rocks smoothly and soundlessly.
