An attractive Victorian deep seated mahogany reading / library chair, upholstered in a deep rich burgundy fabric. Possibly Irish.
The chair is very well made with lovely attention to detail throughout, with finely carved spindles, legs and rails. The chair terminates in the original brass and porcelain castors. The fabric has two 'pulls' to the thread, one to each side of the seat (please see photographs) but generally remains in a very good condition. There are some light signs of wear commensurate with age and there is some unevenness in colour to areas of the wood most notably to the inside arm (again, please see photographs).
A substantial, well made chair of lovely proportions.
Provenance: Wicklow, Ireland.
