A delightful regency period rosewood book tray with working lock and key.
The crossbanded rosewood top sits beneath a galleried top with turned rosewood spindles, the whole above a single drawer and four square feet. Mother of pearl escutcheon. The key looks to be a marriage opposed to original as sits loose in the keyhole, but nonetheless functions as it should.
There is fading to the top and the left side of the gallery is slightly loose at the joint. Generally the piece presents very well and remains fully functional.
