A charming 17th century oak oak coffer of unusually diminutive proportions; possibly originally intended for a child.
Despite it's size, the coffer is very substantial being formed of thick oak planks. Pegged construction. The thick oak top has a twin panel top with historically replaced iron hinges but the original loop hinges are still present. The lunette carved frieze sits above a further two panels the whole raised upon stile feet.
The coffer has some areas of wear as expected, most notably a faded ring mark to the top and evidence of a small area of historic woodworm to the back (note this has been treated in abundance of caution). Generally the whole piece remains in a very good condition with a fantastic colour throughout.
