A Chippendale period flame mahogany bureau, c.1780.
The bureau fall front opens to reveal a fitted interior of eight drawers and pigeon holes with a lockable central cupboard, above four graduating long drawers with swan neck handles and ogee bracket feet. Both the fall front and interior cupboard have working locks and keys.
All of the graduated drawers sit slight slightly proud of the carcass save the top drawer. The bureau has historic repairs in areas, mainly to the feet and interior surrounding the lock. Later brassware. There is a small wood split to the inside far left pigeon hole. There is some marking to the wood in areas, predominantly to the interior fall front and some small circular marks to the top.
The whole piece has a wonderful colour throughout and is of extremely attractive form and proportion.
